Karan Verma, MD
Dr. Verma is a Public Psychiatry Fellow at the Boston University Medical Center. As a part of his training, he is gaining clinical and administrative experiences at various sites affiliated with the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health including the Prevention and Recovery in Early Psychosis Program and Tewksbury Hospital. He approaches clinical care from a systems wide perspective and through the lens of social determinants of health. He has participated in advocacy efforts through out his training, and is interested in exploring ways of fostering resilience in individuals and communities. He is involved in research projects interfacing with the criminal justice system; medical education; and through the MAPNET learning collaborative. His clinical interests include early recognition and management of first-episode psychosis, lifespan management of serious mental illnesses, refugee trauma and global psychiatry.
