Social Determinants of Health for Psychotic Disorders

Social Determinants of Health for Psychotic Disorders: Why Are They Important and How to Assess Them?

Dilip V. Jeste, MD.
Former Senior Associate Dean for Healthy Aging and Senior Care, and Distinguished Professor of Psychiatry and Neurosciences, University of California, San Diego.

Social determinants of health (SDoH) are social and environmental factors that have a significant impact on mental, physical, and cognitive health. This presentation will discuss the literature on SDoH for schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, such as early-life adversities, social connections, racism, and other forms of discrimination. Dr. Jeste will discuss the clinical impact of SDoH, assessment measures, their relationship with biology, and possible interventions to address them.
